Make a difference
If you’re interested in making a difference in your community, look no further than VHCC. An investment in the VHCC Educational Foundation Inc. is an investment in the community. Whether you are an individual, a corporation, a Foundation, or a VHCC employee, there are many ways to give. Each is important to the growth and development of the College and our students.
Cash, Check, or Credit Card Gifts
You may visit the VHCC Educational Foundation office, located in Room 125 of the Learning Resource Center on the VHCC campus, or send a check to:
The VHCC Educational Foundation
P.O. Box 828
Abingdon, VA 24212-0828
If you would like to designate your gift for a special purpose, please enclose a note or make a notation on the memo line of your check.
Please get in touch with Debbie McCroskey at (276) 739-2536 or dmccroskey@93ylpt.com, if you have questions.
Many organizations match their employees’ contributions to qualifying nonprofit organizations.
Please contact your organization’s business or human resources office to determine if your organization has a matching gifts program.
You may support the Foundation through gifts of goods and services.
Contributing appreciated stock to the VHCC Foundation is an excellent way to achieve your charitable giving goals, while receiving valuable tax benefits. You may designate the contribution toward the project(s) of your choice. In addition to helping the Foundation further its work, you may receive several benefits, including:
- Avoidance of capital gains tax on 100 percent of the stock’s appreciation
- Charitable income tax deduction of the stock’s full market value
You may name the Foundation in your will. Your will can include gifts in the form of property (cash, securities and personal property); a percentage of your estate; or the residue of your estate (property remaining after other bequests have been fulfilled). Here is sample language for a bequest to the Foundation:
I give and bequeath to the Virginia Highlands Community College Educational Foundation Inc. the sum of ______ dollars ($__) (or percentage of estate) for the use and benefit of Virginia Highlands Community College, in the manner and for the purposes determined by the discretion of the VHCC Educational Foundation Board.
The Foundation’s sponsorship program provides organizations with the opportunity to sponsor the College.
If you choose to be a VHCC Sponsor, your funds will:
- Be designated toward the VHCC General Support Fund, which provides the College with the flexibility to apply funds to the areas of greatest need.
- Provide monies for goods and services, including employee salaries, equipment, office supplies and the Foundation’s operating budget.
- Provide you with enhanced public awareness and outreach to a broad audience.
Donors who choose to establish planned gifts to benefit VHCC ensure their legacy will continue for many generations. Estate funds may be added to an existing endowment or used to create new opportunities at VHCC. Whichever avenue you choose, financial planning allows you to direct estate funds to the area of your choice.
